Nutritional Info
Inulin
Inulin is used to support a healthy gut by selectively encouraging certain beneficial bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium to proliferate in the horse’s hindgut. This, in turn, can improve fibre metabolization, nutrient absorption, and overall digestive health.
Papaya
Papaya, particularly the papain enzyme found within it, is used to support digestion and gastric health. It can help the process of protein breakdown, nutrient absorption, and stimulate salivation, which can benefit horses with digestive issues.
Flax
Flaxseed is rich in soluble fibre, particularly mucilage which forms a gel like coating when mixed with digestive fluids acting as a barrier against stomach acid. Flax is one of the best plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid helping with gastric and intestinal inflammation and restoring health to ulcerated tissue.
Milled Chia Seeds
Milled chia seeds support gut wall integrity, gut motility and supports a healthy microbiome. They contain soluble fibre, which forms a gel-like substance when mixed with digestive fluids. It helps slow down digestion, allowing better nutrient absorption and the fibre in chia acts as a prebiotic and assists with the fermentation of forage. Chia Seeds also contain flavonoids and phenolic acids that help manage oxidative stress. The 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to 6 in Chia Seeds is close to the essential fatty acid ratio naturally present in pasture grasses.
L-Arginine
An amino acid, converted in the body into Nitric Oxide(NO), helping to deliver nutrients to the entire gastric system.
3-Step Gastric Programme
Step 1 – Gastro™ is the most concentrated formula in the gastric range, helping preserve and restore intestinal barrier function. Ideal for horses showing symptoms of gastric discomfort, changes in behaviour, grass and turnout changes, travelling and competitions.
Step 2 – Gastro Extend™ can be used as a follow on from Gastro™ – Step 1 or used as maintenance if your horse has a sensitive gut or is prone to stress.
Step 3 – SFM PRO™ & SFM PRO – Extra Calmer™ is a daily gut maintenance for your horses gut health. Includes essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids, ideal for when grazing is limited, grass is lacking and throughout winter when nutrients in the grass are lower or turnout is restricted.

Gertrude Gastro Extend
I have written a review for the Gastro 1 and rated Gastro Extend it has all but cleared up my horses FFWS and her sloppy poo in a week. So very very happy. Thank you Debbie for all your wonderful support.

Fantastic
My dressage horse had a couple of months off this over summer but it was the wrong decision he became uncomfortable again in his tummy. He’s back on it now and back to normal again, happy pony. I’m not into supplements but this really does work. Thank you.

Step 2- Gastro Extend
I have been using Equine Exceed Gastro Extend™ – Step 2 for about 18 months.
The difference in our horse is just great.
It keeps her comfortable and has become part of her day to day feeding routine.
Wouldn’t be without it 😄

Equine Exceed Step 2
After a prolonged period of being fed Step 1 my ex racehorse is now being fed the Step 2 and has remained happy and willing! I know she had extremely bad ulcers during her early racing years and I think these probably returned after moving home a couple of times (I didn’t scope). She has now got a shiny coat, is willing when ridden (no kicking out or resisting my leg) and is developing a lovely top line. Very pleased with the products from Equine Exceed which I am sure have played a massive part.

Our mare has been taking Gastro Extend for a number of years now , having had ulcers we started her on step one and now use step 2 as our daily maintenance. Happy to report that she has not had further ulcers and she is happy and comfortable . Totally recommend this product. The Equine Exceed Team are always available for guidance and advice.

Fantastic products!
Wow, what a fantastic selection! I was lucky enough to be a winner of Equine Exceed’s #winitwednesday competition and they sent me an amazing selection of goodies – thank you 🙏 I was offered my choice of supplement and I had no hesitation in requesting the Gastro Step 2 for my daughter’s show jumping mare, who was diagnosed with grade 4 ulcers ten months ago. After treatment she scoped clear but I really wanted to find a product that would keep her stomach happy. We started on Step 1 for about eight weeks and then moved onto Step 2. Our mare has been on this ever since, along side some slight management changes, and has remained happy and comfortable with no signs of ulcers, even after moving yards which I was concerned would upset her. Thank you Equine Exceed!

Great follow on and maintenance supplement
Gastro Step 1 made a big difference to my mare, I kept her on it for a few months then moved her onto Step 2 and it’s kept her happy in her gut I think. As a TB living out 24/7 she’s quite exposed to constant changes in the weather and grass and this has helped keep her consistently happier the last couple of seasons.
