Nutritional Info

Milled Chia Seeds

Milled chia seeds are ideal for a stressed upset gut as they support gut wall integrity, gut motility and support a healthy microbiome. They contain soluble fibre, which forms a gel-like substance when mixed with digestive fluids, helping ease an anxious, unsettled gut. The 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 to 6 in Chia Seeds is close to the essential fatty acid ratio naturally present in pasture grasses.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Vitamin C is key for immune health and is an antioxidant, helping protect the brain and nervous system from oxidative damage. Vitamin C is also involved in the synthesis of Dopamine and Norepinephrine, brain chemicals that influence mood and behaviour.

Peppermint Leaf Powder

Peppermint encourages fussy horses to eat, and contains menthol, which can help to soothe the digestive tract, reduce gas, and provide support for horses suffering with digestive issues which can lead to behavioural issues.

Flax

Flax Seed is rich in soluble fibre, particularly mucilage which forms a gel like coating when mixed with digestive fluids acting as a barrier against stomach acid. Flax is one of the best plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid which can support the health of the brain and nervous system.

FAQs

My horse is fine at home, but gets stressed travelling & at shows, do I have to feed it everyday?

Calmer PRO™ – Soya Free can be fed daily or for 2-3 consecutive days at a loading dose feeding rate before known changes in routine where they will feel anxious.

Can I feed Calmer PRO™ - Soya Free with Calmer Bites™?

Yes! Calmer Bites™ & Calmer PRO™ Soya Free are made with very similar ingredients. Calmer PRO™ is given in feed and Calmer Bites™ are handy bite sized treats, perfect for keeping on the lorry for horses with anxious behaviour.

What’s the difference between Calmer PRO™ & Calmer PRO™ Soya Free?

The formulas are exactly the same, but we’ve removed the Soya and replaced it with Milled Chia Seeds for owners who prefer to have their horses on a Soya free diet.

Should I split the daily amount over two feeds?

It is recommended that your horse is fed its maintenance amount in one feed – do not split over two feeds. To find out your horse’s daily requirements, see the feeding guidelines.

For loading doses (the first 3-5 days of feeding), feed the required amount twice daily.

I’m not sure my horse will eat it?

Palatability samples are available on our website, so that you can ensure your horse is happy to eat it.

    It works!

I have tried several big brand calmers for my very nervous horse but none seem to work. He is very tricky as I don’t want him to be calmer as such as I like his energy. I just want something to help him deal with his nervous system. He gets very scared and up tight and just worries, then holds himself. I took him to the winter regionals and was expecting him to be frightened of the flowers and hold himself as normal but he was an absolute star, no spooking, no nervousness. I even won two regional titles and a wild card so we are off to the winter championships next week. This will be a really big deal for this horse as he doesn’t travel well due to being frightened and we have a 500 mile trip, plus he hasn’t been to anything like this so it will test this calmer to the max. The calmer has also helped with his travelling so its win win for us. Thank you 🙂

    Smells yummy!

My horse doesn’t like the calmer bites in any flavour but she eats this happily. I haven’t used it enough yet to be sure of how effective it is but I think it works! Glad there is no soya in it from an environmental perspective.
