Vitamin E (DL-a-Tocopheryl Acetate 700iu)
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant, that plays a critical role in protecting the horse from everyday oxidative stress which is particuraly relevant for high performance horses. Vitamin E is an important nutrient that supports muscle health and protects cell membranes. In addition, it is an ‘essential vitamin’ (meaning your horse cannot synthesise it and it must be provided in the diet).
Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil is used in our Cool Bites™ to give them their tasty flavour, while supporting the digestive & respiratory system.
Flax Seed Powder
Flax Seed is rich in soluble fibre, particularly mucilage which forms a gel like coating when mixed with digestive fluids acting as a barrier against stomach acid. Flax is one of the best plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid which can support the health of the brain and nervous system.

I bought these for a gelding who was being slightly problematic with his new field companion, they definitely took the edge off him and allowed him to settle with his new friend without causing chaos .

I use these calming cookies for a 5 year old Arabian mare when shes getting a bit too excited and they work great, usually in about 20 mins. YMMV of course depending on your horse but for me at least I’ve not found anything anywhere near as effective. 4/5 as a single eco bag for 1 month of cookies with postage is almost £30 so at that price these cookies need to be good!

Competition use 'Cool Bites'
We have tried numerous calmers in the past for our mare and nothing worked until we decided to try Cool Bites (Mint). We have used them on a few occasions now for competitions and we have seen a difference and she is more co-operative. For us, we used a day in advance and also on the morning and it has worked!.

Debbie very kindly phoned me to discuss my order of cool bites for my mare. One of my polo ponies gets so excited when being stick and balled and in a game that she stops concentrating and is too interested in what is going on around her that’s it’s hard to get her to focus. I used them for the first time, doing what it said on the packaging and despite there being a few ponies in the arena and one messing around it was like she didn’t even notice. She was calm, settled and focused but still the same pony underneath. I’m definitely going to continue to use them

I just wanted to say thanks for a fantastic product – cool bites. Last year I was ready to sell my horse as following some nasty falls, I’d lost a lot of my confidence. After trying a few calmers, I found the cool bites and we have gone from strength to strength. In October we were chosen to represent Wales in dressage and had hoped for the same in April if it hadn’t been for COVID – hopefully we will be back with the team as soon as competitions get under way again. I have recommended the bites to a number of friends and my instructor, who have also gone on to use them with excellent results. Thankyou, I wouldn’t be without them in my tack room.

I recently spoke to the lovely Debbie about her cool bites as I was looking for something to help my Pony when travelling and also clipping, we compete quite a lot ( when we are out of lock down ) and it’s sometimes very hard to get him to focus and I sorted of needed something as a quick fix! So I was informed about the Cool Bites and how they take less than an hour to work and they sounded perfect! And what an difference they really do make! BUT without making the horse dead to the leg our drowsy! It’s nice to find products that actually work as the equine business is sometimes a mind field with all the products out there but I would highly recommend these and I have seen the difference!

Life savers!
Calling them life savers is not an exaggeration! I owe so much to these, they helped my polo pony deal with anxiety on the pitch and allowed her to perform as well out there as she did at home. Unfortunately my showjumper became horse shy after we were kicked but with the help of cool bites/calmer bites I’ve got a happy horse in the warm ups again- thank you!!
