Step 1 – Gastro™ has a broader blend of amino acids and amino-acid derivatives including;

L-Threonine , L-Glutamic Acid, NAC, L- Histidine, Beta-Alanine & L-Alanine

Step 1 – Gastro™ has more nutritional cofactors than gut biotics including;

Vitamin B1, Vitamin B12, Choline bitartrate and Additional Vitamin E and Vitamin C. It analytically has lower sugar and starch.

Horses with additional gastric challenges may benefit from additional amino acid support as part of a nutritional approach to digestive health. Step 1 – Gastro™ helps provide essential building blocks for intestinal cells, protein synthesis and the natural protective mucus and gut barrier.

Gut Biotics is a daily digestive support supplement helping nourish beneficial bacteria in the gut, supporting a healthy biome & environment.

Not every horse with digestive discomfort will show obvious signs, but here are what our customers say;

Biting or kicking out while being rugged up

Increased spookiness or reactivity

Being more hypervigilant or easily startled

Difficulty settling or seeming unusually tense

Changes in temperament or becoming more irritable

Tail swishing, pinning ears or other expressions of discomfort

Increased stereotypical behaviours such as crib-biting or windsucking

**These behaviours can occur when a horse is uncomfortable, stressed or experiencing pain, but they can also arise from training, management, environment, learned behaviour, musculoskeletal pain, tack issues, dental problems and many other causes. We would always recommend consulting your vet first if you have concerns about your horse.

For horses with known or suspected gastric discomfort, Step 1 – Gastro™ can be fed as part of the horse’s nutritional management. A minimum feeding period of 4 weeks is recommended, with longer-term use depending on the individual horse’s nutritional requirements.

When you see consistent improvement in symptoms and/or behaviour in your horse before moving on to Extend Step 2™.

It is recommended that your horse is fed its maintenance amount in one feed – do not split over two feeds. To find out your horse’s daily requirements, see feeding guidelines.

For loading doses (the first 3-5 days of feeding), feed the required amount twice daily.

Changes in behaviour, such as increased reactivity, difficulty settling or becoming more easily startled, may sometimes accompany digestive disturbance. The But–Brain Axis describes the two-way communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain, involving pathways including the vagus nerve, nervous system and other signalling mechanisms. This provides one possible link between the gastrointestinal tract and behaviour.
