Nutritional Info

MSM

MSM provides sulphur, which is crucial for collagen and connective tissue synthesis. This supports the structure of cartilage, tendons, and ligaments in the joints. MSM helps combat oxidative stress, which is often elevated in horses undergoing heavy exercise or suffering from joint disease.

Glucosamine – 6.75g per scoop

Glucosamine is a key building block of cartilage, the connective tissue that cushions joints. It helps maintain healthy cartilage and slow its breakdown. As horses age, their natural glucosamine production declines, leading to slower cartilage repair and increased wear, Glucosamine helps keep joints and cartilage lubricated.

Boswellia – 4g per scoop

The primary active compounds of Boswellia are Boswellic acids, which support natural anti-inflammatory pathways in the body. Boswellia benefits cartilage, tendons and ligaments making it useful for horses in recovery, hard work or old age.

Chondroitin – 2.5g per scoop

Chondroitin Sulphate is a naturally occurring compound found in cartilage playing a key role in maintaining healthy joints. Chondroitin also helps retain water within cartilage, improving its shock-absorbing capacity and reducing joint friction.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance in the body, especially concentrated in synovial fluid and cartilage. It is highly effective for joint health, contributing to targeting inflammation and supporting lubrication in the joints. By increasing joint fluid, HA acts as a natural shock absorber, protecting bones and cartilage during movement and impact.

FAQs

What are the signs of joint discomfort?

It could show itself in many ways including stiffness – especially after rest, a shortened or uneven stride, lameness or irregular gait and swelling or heat around joints.

How long should my horse stay on Supple Xtra™?

Joint damage is progressive, especially as horses age, when their natural glucosamine production declines, leading to slower cartilage repair and increased wear. For this reason, it is best to feed Supple Xtra™ as part of a long-term feeding plan.

What’s the difference between Supple Xtra™, Soft Tissue Support™ and Bute-EZ™?

Supple Xtra™ is fed to maintain healthy joints.

Soft Tissue Support™ is used to support the health of tendons & ligaments and for the recovery of soft tissue injuries.

Bute-EZ™ is a natural anti-inflammatory for horses who require ongoing support, those on box rest or the veteran horse to help maintain ease of movement.

Should I split the daily amount over two feeds?

It is recommended that your horse is fed its maintenance amount in one feed – do not split over two feeds. To find out your horse’s daily requirements, see the feeding guidelines.

For loading doses (the first 3-5 days of feeding), feed the required amount twice daily.

I’m not sure my horse will eat it?

Palatability samples are available on our website, so that you can ensure your horse is happy to eat it.

    A helping hand

I’ve been using Supple Xtra for a good while now for my ISH who has a long standing severe si injury. Along with 3 monthly McTimoney chiropractor sessions the supplement and treatments combined help him to enjoy a comfortable life whilst still being able to compete.

Great product – does what it says!

I’ve used both the joint supplement Supple Xtra and the calmer Pro. They have made a huge difference to my 19yr old dressage horse. He moves more freely now and is so much more focused – wish I’d tried this years again. 😀

Makes a positive difference in horse soundness

We have an 11 year old cob who sustained a severe kick injury to his hock, resulting in 2 bone chips and impact trauma. My vet suggested 65% ba boswellia, as well as his topical medication (Ekyflogyl 6 weeks post injury). My vet advised swapping him to Supple Extra to prevent the likelihood of arthritic changes. X-rays 12 months later, the bone chips have been re absorbed and he was trotting up sound – I thought he was sound because of the chips disappearing so I stopped giving him the Supple Extra and in 6 weeks he’s 1/10 lame – hence I’m ordering some more. I’ll keep him on it!
